Free Estimate
A real walk-through, a real color consult, and a written line-item quote within 48 hours — so the number we quote is the number you pay.
Five Steps, Zero Pressure
Craig or a senior estimator comes to your home — not a salesperson with an iPad. We walk every surface you're thinking about painting: siding condition, failed caulk lines, bare wood, moisture staining, previous coatings. For exteriors we check the north face first, because that's where Portland's moss and mildew tell the truth about how a house weathers. Most visits take 30–45 minutes.
We book walk-throughs Monday–Saturday, including 7:00 am slots before work. No charge, no obligation, ever.
Lisa Chen, our color consultant, keeps a full library of Sherwin-Williams swatches and large-format brush-out samples at the office. On projects over $2,500 the in-home consult is complimentary — she'll bring samples, look at your light at the actual time of day you use the room, and narrow choices to two or three finalists. For exteriors she checks your roof, brick, and neighborhood context before recommending a palette.
Within 48 hours of the walk-through you get a written quote that itemizes everything: prep (washing, scraping, priming, caulking), labor by area, the exact Sherwin-Williams products we'll use and how many coats, and any carpentry or dry-rot repairs we flagged. If a line doesn't make sense, call and we'll walk you through it. The number we quote is the number you pay — no change orders for things we should have seen.
Quotes are honored for 60 days, so you have room to plan without price pressure.
Approve the quote and we'll offer you real start weeks — not a vague 'sometime next month.' Interior work runs year-round; exterior slots in Portland book heaviest May through September, so summer exteriors are best reserved 3–6 weeks out. You'll get the crew lead's name and a confirmed start date in writing, and a call the day before we arrive.
Before a drop of finish paint goes on: floors and furniture covered, landscaping shielded, hardware masked. Exteriors get pressure washing, hand scraping, sanding, bare-wood priming, and fresh caulk at every gap — the prep is on your quote as its own line so you can see it was done. Every crew is EPA lead-safe certified for pre-1978 Portland homes, and exterior work carries our written 5-year warranty.
Our Promises
We work room by room on interiors, seal off work areas, and put furniture back where we found it every evening. No living out of boxes for a week.
The site is broom-clean every night, and Craig walks the finished job with you before final payment. If a line isn't crisp, we fix it before we're done — not after a callback.
If we uncover hidden damage mid-job — dry rot behind a gutter, failed drywall tape — we stop, show you photos, and price the fix in writing before touching it. You decide.
Estimate Questions
Yes — the walk-through, the written line-item quote, and the phone follow-up are free with no obligation. The in-home color consult with Lisa is complimentary on projects over $2,500; below that, she's happy to advise by phone and email using photos of your space. We win enough of the estimates we do that we don't need to charge for them.
Usually within 48 hours. Larger or more complex projects — a full exterior with carpentry repairs, or a whole-house interior plus cabinets — can take up to four business days because we measure and price every line rather than applying a square-foot guess. If it's going to take longer, we tell you at the walk-through.
For interiors, yes — we need to see the rooms, and it's the best time to talk color and sheen. For exteriors we can do the initial assessment from the outside if you're at work, but we strongly prefer you're there for at least 15 minutes: the questions you ask during the walk-through are usually the difference between a quote that fits and one that doesn't.
Almost always prep. A low bid usually means pressure wash, one coat, done — which looks fine for a year and fails in two. Our quote itemizes scraping, sanding, priming, and caulking as their own lines so you can compare like for like. Ask any painter bidding your job to put their prep steps in writing; the ones who won't are telling you something.
Interior work is typically 1–3 weeks out year-round. Exterior painting in Portland runs on the dry season, so May–September slots book 3–6 weeks ahead — if you want a summer exterior, get the walk-through done in spring. Once you approve the quote, your start week is confirmed in writing and we hold it; quotes themselves are honored for 60 days.
Book the walk-through and you’ll have a written, line-item quote in hand within 48 hours — with the prep steps spelled out so you can compare bids honestly.
Free and no obligation. Walk-throughs run Monday–Saturday, including 7:00 am slots before work. Quotes are honored for 60 days.
