About Summit
Craig Summit started this company with the belief that good prep work is the entire job. Everything else follows from that.
Our Story
Craig Summit spent eight years managing painting crews for a commercial contractor in the Portland metro before starting Summit Painting in 2005. His biggest takeaway: most painting problems are prep problems. Too much of the industry skips prep to win on price, then blames the materials when paint fails in two years.
Summit Painting was built around the opposite approach. We price to do the prep correctly, we use materials that perform in Portland’s climate, and we back exterior work with a written 5-year warranty because we expect it to hold.
We’re located at 4510 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, OR 97215. Portland homeowners and local commercial clients have been our focus for 20 years — no franchise, no subcontracting.
Credentials
Summit Painting holds an Oregon Construction Contractors Board license (#212847). Required for all residential painting work in Oregon.
Our team holds EPA RRP (Renovation, Repair, and Painting) certification — required for work on pre-1978 homes. We follow all lead-safe work practices.
Our exterior warranty is written into every contract. We come back and re-paint any area that fails due to materials or workmanship within 5 years.
Our Team
Owner, 20 Years
Craig started Summit Painting after managing crews for a large commercial contractor. He wanted to build something where every project got his personal oversight. He still walks every job before final payment.
Senior Painter
Paulo has been with Summit for 14 years and handles most of our exterior and cabinet work. He's the reason we can offer a 5-year warranty — his prep work is exceptional.
Color Consultant
Lisa consults with homeowners on color selection for interiors and exteriors. She keeps a library of swatch samples in the office and does complimentary in-home color consultations for all projects over $2,500.
